Awarded in Iraq and West Point.
 Dan, The knives arrived this afternoon. They are fantastic!!!! There will be no doubt in anyone’s mind that these are combat knives…Well Done!!! A few folks saw them as we were unpacking them and they were very impressed. I will be awarding them tomorrow sometime. I will do my best to get out photos; out; I am really short on time so please bear with me on this. As a backup, I am asking another SGM (SGM Spano) to also do this so I know they get to you as soon as possible. Once again, these are awesome and I owe you a ton of thanks for taking care of the troops. You have made a huge difference!!! Map knives completed and mailed to Iraq and West Point USMA  The 2006 Military Award Program knives have been completed. 10 Relentless Knives 1 Relentless Knuckles 1 Lee Brewer Knife Sent to !0th Mtn Div U.S. Army Iraq on May 1 2006 1 Relentless Knife Mailed to West Point for the TOP Cadet who will be sent to a War Zone soon. 2 Test knives were also part of the program, and Awarded to Active Duty Military and Iraq vets for testing, photos and reports available below. Note: although we completed the MAP successfully, CSM Brian Carlson recieved word that he would be shipped out on May 12th. This put us at a disadvantage, as several unfinished knives had to be substituted for other knives which luckily, we had on hand. The unfinished knves will be completed, and used to start the next MAP  We will be posting photos of the Awards soon! CAPT. In a diligent, RELENTLESS effort to help me and you help our troops in Iraq, Ian Humphrey was kind enough to build the shelter seen above with only the MAP knife . knife is razor sharp because of a microscopic feather of steel on the
edge. This feather is strong and lasts for awhile, but when it starts
to fold in on it's self, you will notice the knife being slightly less
sharp. Also, if you leave the knife in a moist environment without
protection, this feather will slightly deteriorate due to oxidation.
This is when to touch it up on the steel (sold in kitchen stores), or
ceramic rods. The result is you keep your knife razor sharp with three
or four strokes on the steel without removing steel from the edge, or
reshaping the edge angle. ... After about a year you will have
to
use the stone or diamond to reshape the edge. I see many good knives
that have given the user years of faithful service except that the
width of the blade is greatly reduced by using a stone or diamond hone
which wears away the knife. You can find these steel rods, or bars at
kitchen stores, or you can make one your self from a file.Ceramic rods
are widely available and easiest to carry.
