NEW CATALOG for
2007
The 2007 Catalog is Now up and running. There are several new
models as well as lots of classics.
Some models got bumped.
not because they were not great knives, but because they were the old
grind, which is just not as strong.
Capt.....no...Major
Humphrey, will be reviewing as many models as time
permitts, and you'll find his reports here and on the web site.
I
intend to change the look of the web site to that of this news letter,
and the new catalog.
Easier to read and navigate.
The
radio control pannnel may go, as time is just not on my side there, and
some have reported it a bit confusing. We will see what may work better.
If
your a regular visitor to this newsletter and the web site, I would
appreciate your feedback as the site progresses. My goal is to make it
easier to use, with as much information as possible.

NEW KNIFE SHEATH

I've designed
a new knife sheath, that solves an old problem. Here's
Capt Humphreys report:
The
New Relentless Knives/Spec Ops Brand Sheath/Pouch Combo by: Capt.
Ian Humphrey
How many times have you been frustrated with the lack of a
decent sized pocket on
your knife sheath? The new Relentless model sheath solves
this problem by
combining an X2 multi-purpose pouch with a Kydex sheath to securely hold
your tactical fixed blade knife. This combo will be available
in multiple
colors to suit your needs. This new pouch offers the same
MOLLE compliant
straps that allow the pouch to be secured to a variety of surfaces from vests to
belts. There is also an ample section of Velcro on the pouch flap to
adjust to different size loads, or to be securely held open for easy access.
I tested the new pouch on a MOLLE vest and found that it quickly and securely
attached to the straps. The Relentless M1i fit snuggly in the
Kydex insert
and road securely behind the pouch. Even with a fully loaded pouch, the
knife had no problems fitting into the sheath. The main advantage to
this new combo pouch is the saved space on your vest, etc. since you do
not have to carry both a sheath and ammo pouch separately. Another
advantage to this new combination is the fact that the knife is
almost
completely hidden behind the pouch. This could come in handy
when you do not
want to advertise a large tactical knife on your person.
Besides holding two
M16 30 round magazines, I was also able to fit a Garmin Etrex GPS, compact
binoculars, GI issue angled flashlight, a ton of 550 cord, Willey-X
goggles, pocket survival kit, etc. etc. inside this one pouch (not at the same
time, of course!).
Overall, I was very impressed with the new Relentless knife/pouch combination.
For the first time you can receive a quality knife sheath that includes a
large enough pouch to store a variety of useful accessories.
UPDATE......!
The 7.5" sheath is now a reality. This means it fits the M9
Bayonet and many other blades up to 8" long.

Since we didn't have an airplane to destroy in order to test various types of serrations .
Ian went right out and found a crashed one to cut up. You
just don't get testing like this everywhere, The results of his tests
found different shapes and sizes of serrations work better and worse for
different cutting chores. We are processing the data now, in an effort
to bring you knives that do the job better than any others.
Always keep in mind that your intended use has lots to do with the knife
you
choose to do the job. We are doing our best to make knives that do as
many jobs as possible, and are having great success. But
discression is still
required. Watch for the serration test results soon. A plan to offer serrations tailored to your job is in the works.
Lots of people have given up on serrations because they don't
work as well as a sepeate tool. This is true to some extent, but we are
working to change it.
Understanding
Serrations

They
say an old
dog can not learn new tricks, but I beg to disagree.I have been performing some tests on some new
Relentless Knives models and commented to Dan that the small sections
of
serrations found on two of the knives did not cut very well.Dan proceeded to explain
the idea behind the
serrations and how they should be used.It turns out that I was trying to perform a “sawing
motion” when I
should have been trying a “scraping motion.”
The serrations on
the smaller models like the Talon, Midget, etc. are usually only three
or four
long.The intended
uses for the
serrations are to cut 550 cord, strip electrical wire, notch wood, or
make fuzz
sticks.These
serrations are not
designed to act like a saw to cut through tree limbs, etc.
The best
technique to cut 550 cord or to strip wire is to anchor the material
against
something and pull it tight with your non-knife hand.With the knife, place a single serration
against the cord or wire and “scrape” the serration towards you (see
pictures).If the
serrations do not
initially cut, you can sharpen them with four or five strokes of a
small
carbide sharpening steel.Once
I got the
hang of this new technique I was quickly able to severe 550 cord and
strip wire
with ease.
The
serrations
can still be used to notch wood and create fuzz sticks.By rapidly sawing on the branch, the
serrations will make a nice notch to break off the branch or a fuzz
stick for
lighting fires, etc.
The
key to these
serrations is that they are not meant to serve like a “serrated edge
knife.”Dan created
these serrations to
save the blade’s edge by allowing a specially designed area for cutting
cord,
wire, etc.This
saves the edge for other
cutting tasks.
Extreme Testing produces Extreme
Durability and a better knife for you.
Don't try this with your knife, intentional destruction will
void your
lifetime replacement warranty.
But, we do it all the time in order to see just how
much abuse our knives will withstand.
Ian figures no amount of abuse is to much, so
a bit of rifle fire produced some interesting results on a knife that
withstood bending to almost 90 degrees
and returned to straight with no deformity
The 7.62 x 39 Bullet had more devastating effects
on this particular knife, but was not so bad on another tested.

A small crack , but not bad for such abuse..
Please don't try this at home, as gun fire will be considered
extreme
abuse and void your lifetime warranty.
Ian doesn't seem to care....he is more concerned that American Soldiers
who carry Relentless Knives get the best equipment available.

Kill an American
You
probably
missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a
report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer
of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.
So
an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let
everyone know what an American is so they would know when they found
one. (Good one, mate!!!!)
An
American is English, or French,
or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An
American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese,
Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or
Afghan.
An
American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage,
Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes
known as Native Americans.
An
American is Christian, or he could
be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in
America than in Afghanistan . The only difference is that in America
they are free to worship as each of them chooses.
An
American is
also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to
God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the
government and for God.
An
American lives in the most prosperous
land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be
found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God
given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.
An
American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other
nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in
return.
When
Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20
years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people
to win back their country! As of the morning of September 11, Americans
had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan.
Americans
welcome the best of everything...the best products, the best books, the
best music, the best food, the best services.
But
they also welcome the least.
The
national symbol of America , The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your
tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the
homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built
America .
Some
of them were working in the Twin Towers the
morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families.
It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least
30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those
that aided and abetted the terrorists.
So
you can try to kill an
American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and
Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in
doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not
a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of
the human spirit of freedom.
